Latin America continues to offer significant business opportunities for construction-related equipment manufacturers and suppliers.

The industry is coming out of recession and analysts point to the potential for substantial and sustainable recovery after the stabilization of major economies, with the potential for positive changes in administration, then providing the necessary environment for continued investment.

The positive outlook is supported by higher commodities prices, solid global growth, and lower regional inflation. These changes could improve the already positive projections for heavy equipment demand in the region.

Overall, construction industry spending in Latin America is forecasted to total more than $596 billion U.S. dollars by 2021. The region is estimated to have more than $285 billion U.S. dollars in projects currently in the works, with another $573 billion U.S. dollars in projects preparing to be under construction, according to 2017 data from Business Monitor International and IHS Markit.

The heavy construction equipment market in Latin America was valued at more than $4.3 billion U.S. dollars in 2016 and is expected to reach approximately $6.4 billion U.S. dollars by 2022, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.8 percent from 2016 to 2022. In this projection from Allied Market Research, the construction segment accounted for the dominant share in the total heavy construction equipment market in 2016.
